Welcome!

This blog was created in honor of Khan, the Warrior Cat, to provide his fans with updates and information on his progress. Khan was rescued by Shadow Cats in Round Rock, Texas in 2006, after being hit by a car and found wandering the highway. He underwent several surgeries performed by Dr. Roy Smith at the Central Texas Cat Hospital to restore his smashed jaw, remove his damaged eye, and restore mobility. He still had damaged ears from years of infections, neurological problems, only two teeth, and spinal injuries that affected his gait, but he had a great spirit. He got to know many people, and many others heard his story, during the time he stayed at Shadow Cats and the two years during which we were blessed to have him in our home. This blog is dedicated to them, to all of those involved in his rescue, and to anyone who has helped a cat in desperate need.

Further Ear Complications

Khan went to the vet again today to check on his infected ear after about 3-1/2 weeks of treatment. The test showed that although we had mostly taken care of the first bacteria, a new bacteria has shown up, and requires a different antibiotic (Clavamox this time). I'm picking it up tomorrow, and it will be the start of another two weeks of oral antibiotics and ear drops for Khan. He's been such a good boy about the pills, but I don't think he'll be happy about having liquid poured into him. He's had it before however, with no ill effects, and we've really got to knock this thing out!

Meanwhile, I've been job searching and also this month I am taking part in National Novel Writing Month. If you aren't familiar with this event, commonly called "Nanowrimo," check out their website at http://www.nanowrimo.com/. Writers and aspiring writers (like me) from all over the world are trying to crank out a 50,000 word novel (good or bad isn't the point) by the end of November. I wrote about 1500 words yesterday and I'm going to try to do about 5000 more this weekend (yeah, RIGHT!). *grin* Anyway, it's kind of fun, and a good way to see if I have the staying power (and maybe talent?) to be a professional author. Don't judge by this blog.. I tend to be a little sloppy here. :-)

Khan goes back in 2 wks again for a recheck. I'll post an update!
