Welcome!

This blog was created in honor of Khan, the Warrior Cat, to provide his fans with updates and information on his progress. Khan was rescued by Shadow Cats in Round Rock, Texas in 2006, after being hit by a car and found wandering the highway. He underwent several surgeries performed by Dr. Roy Smith at the Central Texas Cat Hospital to restore his smashed jaw, remove his damaged eye, and restore mobility. He still had damaged ears from years of infections, neurological problems, only two teeth, and spinal injuries that affected his gait, but he had a great spirit. He got to know many people, and many others heard his story, during the time he stayed at Shadow Cats and the two years during which we were blessed to have him in our home. This blog is dedicated to them, to all of those involved in his rescue, and to anyone who has helped a cat in desperate need.

Happy Thanksgiving

Technically I'm a day late in saying that, but we are all enjoying a nice, quiet Thanksgiving weekend at home. We went to a restaurant buffet so that I wouldn't have to cook for just the three of us, and I gave the cats their usual food so that we wouldn't have any tummy upsets.

We're looking forward to attending the Shadowcats fundraiser in December, and hopefully we'll see some of the great people we met at the last one. I wish we could bring Khan with us, but it will be to crowded and hectic for him. He prefers to have a nice, quiet space...and no car rides! We were at first considering staying overnight, but will probably drive home after the fundraiser to be with the cats.

Another thing that's going on...since a job I was hoping for didn't materialize in Austin, I am doing a little househunting to see if we could find a place that would both be suitable as a residence, and have potential for us to board cats...a cat hotel! We're thinking of a small capacity operation at first, and I'm considering taking small dogs as well (but I'd rather just have cats). It's an idea I've been toying with but I don't want to get a business loan which rules out a commercial building. We have to pay attention to zoning laws, and would have to get a kennel license. And beside the fact that we've never done anything like this before, I'm very hopeful. Anyway, so far no property has been "it," and we may never find one. But at least it has motivated us to clean out the garage.
