Welcome!

This blog was created in honor of Khan, the Warrior Cat, to provide his fans with updates and information on his progress. Khan was rescued by Shadow Cats in Round Rock, Texas in 2006, after being hit by a car and found wandering the highway. He underwent several surgeries performed by Dr. Roy Smith at the Central Texas Cat Hospital to restore his smashed jaw, remove his damaged eye, and restore mobility. He still had damaged ears from years of infections, neurological problems, only two teeth, and spinal injuries that affected his gait, but he had a great spirit. He got to know many people, and many others heard his story, during the time he stayed at Shadow Cats and the two years during which we were blessed to have him in our home. This blog is dedicated to them, to all of those involved in his rescue, and to anyone who has helped a cat in desperate need.

Quick Update

The bumps/growths on his ears are not bacterial. They aren't sure what they are, but for now we don't need to mess with them. Yay! Khan has to take Clavamox pills until the end of the week, and we go in again on Monday. We're still trying to find a food that Khan can eat without getting digestive upset, and that the other cats will eat. We might try Hills I/D. I really don't want to put them on an eating "schedule" or have to separate them for meals. I prefer leaving food out so that they can nibble throughout the day. We freshen the food twice a day and wash the bowls several times a week. We just need to experiment ... it's our fault, because we started them eating the hairball diet when they were a year old and now that's all they want. I've found that whatever food they are given consistently after kittenhood is the one they will (almost) always like best. My previous cats were hooked on Science Diet maintenance, although I was later able to switch them to Senior. But when their diets had to be altered for health reasons as they aged, it was a great struggle.

But hey, aren't cats worth it??
